What’s included & how licensing works

Your course includes the Ep1x11 online eCourse and on-motorcycle exercises in a controlled area, typically a parking lot. Build foundational riding skills with instruction and practice.

Successful completion may qualify you for a state motorcycle license-test waiver and an insurance discount. Licensing eligibility and BMV steps still apply; ask your insurer about available discounts.

Designed for beginning riders and those refreshing their skills, this course combines the Ep1x11 online eCourse with practical exercises on a three-wheel motorcycle.

Successful completion may qualify you for a state license-test waiver and an insurance discount. Check the licensing requirements for your vehicle type and ask your insurer about discounts.

Complete five riding skill evaluations on your own motorcycle as part of the Indiana endorsement process.

  • Bring a valid driver’s license and unexpired, intact motorcycle permit.
  • Use your own street-legal motorcycle.
  • Review the test-day and protective-gear requirements before booking.

What happens after passing?

Passing satisfies the riding-skills test requirement. You still need to complete the BMV’s remaining steps to add the motorcycle endorsement to your license. Follow the instructions provided after your test.

Take your street-riding experience onto dirt with 12 fundamental off-road skills. No prior off-road experience needed.

  • Practice: body position, low-traction riding and active bike control.

You don’t need to know every course name. Start with your experience and what you want to do next.

I’ve never ridden. Which course should I choose?

Start with the 2-Wheel Basic RiderCourse if you want to ride a two-wheel motorcycle. If your goal is a three-wheel motorcycle, choose the 3-Wheel Basic RiderCourse. Both provide a training vehicle and include beginner instruction.

Should I take a class or just the skills test?

Choose a beginner class if you need instruction or want to practice the fundamentals. The test-only option is for riders who already have the skills and can bring the required license, motorcycle permit and motorcycle. It does not include riding instruction.

Do I need my own motorcycle?

A training motorcycle is included in the 2-wheel and 3-wheel beginner courses. For a license skills test, bring your own street-legal motorcycle. Check the bike and gear requirements for intermediate, advanced and adventure courses before booking. Adventure loaners can be requested, subject to availability.

Our 10 beginner locations are Anderson, Bargersville (Greenwood / Franklin area), Bloomington, Dyer, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Lafayette, Plainfield, Richmond and Sellersburg.
